I use my 40+ years in teaching children and adults to provide quality professional development for teachers in improving teaching and learning in grades K-12.

I am an experienced diagnostician in reading and writing difficulties. My process involves administering a wide battery of authentic assessments that can be compared to standardized test scores to determine strengths and needs. Teachers and community groups can learn about how Western children’s literature evolved into what it is today and why it is so controversial.
This workshop uses hands-on experiences with vintage texts, landmark censorship cases, the American Library Association’s Bill of Rights, and contemporary children’s books for ages 0-17. Participants will leave with a deeper appreciation of the roles that culture and society play in forming the books that are published for children. The 60-minute workshop can be presented in person in the Charlotte NC area, or online in a Zoom meeting. $200.00 fee
